Dim lighting, elegant ambiance, makes for a great date night to take it slow with your sweetie to try new dishes and flavors. A culinary experience. Delightful, Fancy Indian meal. Spicy! If you order spicy entrees, suggest to order an appetizer that is non spicy or get something creamy to cool you down. Server recommended that and it was so helpful! Not kidding that the bread, rice, salad is spicy Reservations can be made online Food presentation was beautiful and interesting to the eye Every dish was something I haven't tasted or experienced before

I'm from India, and have high standards for Indian food. Ate here a couple of months ago, and have been meaning to write a glowing review ever since. The restaurant was simply amazing. Food, service, ambience, everything! We went there for a birthday celebration dinner, and ended up being really glad we had picked this place. First, they have one of the most amazing-tasting cocktails I have ever had: Kerala Backwater. We started with one of those and a Negroni. Between the two of us, we ended up having three more Kerala Backwaters. Part of the reason, though, was that it tasty delicious but there was very little alcohol in it. (The Negroni, in contrast, has the regulation amount of alcohol. I don't know if they read reviews, but they do really need to put more vodka in this drink.) We had Fish Amritsari for our appetizer. Outstanding, and completely authentic. Entrees were Pepper Crab Meat and Tawa Vegetables. Again, both outstanding. The crab dish seems to have fallen off the menu, which is a real pity. It was $45, if I remember correctly, but they gave such a huge mound of crab meat that it felt like very good value for money. Came with an appam, which is not something you see on Indian restaurant menus in our area very often. The tawa vegetables were really delicious. A very good selection of vegetables, cooked to perfection. Our bread was a Warki Paratha. Wark is edible silver foil. Order this just to try that, if you've never had it before. Don't remember having any desert. The meal was really memorable. But they have a very, very interesting menu, full of dishes you cannot get anywhere else. So I imagine we'll try different dishes each time for our first few visits. I felt the prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food and the fine-dining ambience. And if you get an InKind account, you will get 20% cashback (to spend at any InKind restaurant later).

Came here for Valentine's Day and ordered the below 1. Masala Idli - made well but had too much ghee 2. Watermelon chaat- very refreshing flavor, loved the unique flavor 3. Bhoot Jolakhiya chicken - tender and juicy 4. East India Butter Chicken - personally thought their chicken was too sweet The staff and service are really attentive and checked on us a few times. We ordered three drinks, 3 apps and one entree and our total came out to $187 which wasn't too bad given most restaurants had prefixe menus starting at $150pp The restaurants in a mall so be prepared to drive a few levels to find parking. It's paid. They could separate the tables a bit to give people some room to talk. We could hear the table next to us very clearly. It was a good one time experience but I doubt we will go again

Son recommended the place based on the reviews. Place didn't disappoint. Not for the cost conscious mind, but worth the experience. Food quality was excellent. Taste was authentic. Drinks were superb. The veg portions could have been larger. They were sufficient, but absolutely no left overs. Part of the reason was the tasty aspect, part was due to smaller portions. Was it worth the drive from South Bay - yeah, for one trip. Had enough taste variation that we were happy.

My first time at Pippal and it was perfection! The food was deliciously spiced and had incredible flavor and texture. The cocktail- to die for! Staff was fabulous. I'll definitely come back soon. My only request is that they add veggie and/or lamb samosas on their menu!!!!!!!!! Omg it would be the ultimate. Based on how delicious their food is, the samosas would be so major that I'd order those by the boxful!

My bestie and I stopped by for lunch. She had the butter chicken with rice. I had the trio chicken with a side of rice. I liked mine very much, it was a little spicy and flavorful. We also got 2 cocktails. I got the CST. It was sweet and bitter. Very refreshing. We had the sampler appetizer with 3 different sauces, 2 garlic and 1 tamarind. Service was okay. We had several questions since it was our first time here. Ambiance is a beautiful decorated dining area with inside or outdoor seating. A large bar.

A lovely fusion regional Indian menu that abounds with discovery and intrigue. This odd a place where you want to hit their website before visiting and research each of the dishes offered that season as 70% you won't find on any other similar establishments menu. Spices range towards the Thai chili hot side, though there are a number of milder offerings on the menu that are fire-free for the timid among your party. Service was pretty good this time as the waitstaff can be mixed in their understanding of what can be a quite complex menu. The back menu offers a range of selections you might consider as price fixe assortments. However they usually require a minimum of six per party for those, but you can order all of them individually as you prefer instead for smaller groups. Tea selections are super high quality and sure to please.

Pippal is a new Indian restaurant in the Emeryville mall with a beautiful chic interior design and is an ideal spot for both casual get-togethers and special occasions. Our favorite dishes were the butter chicken and Mango Alleppey Fish & Prawn curry. Each bite was a delightful blend of spices and creamy goodness. The curry was equally impressive and offered a variety of bold flavors. However, we did feel that the $30 price tag for the butter chicken and $34 was overpriced for the portions. We thought the Pippal dal was more bland and and the Dahi Vada Chaat was on the sweeter side. The service was excellent and the waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about every dish. He ensured that our dining experience was smooth from start to finish!
